The Design In Context facility enables AVEVA P&ID users to view AVEVA Asset Information Management (AVEVA AIM) documents related to objects selected in P&ID. The facility can be set up to retrieve and present different data in different ways, depending on the type of data is selected.

The Design In Context Configuration Category is divided into three sub-categories:
Add Server Sub-Category

To specify the server that will be used to facilitate the transfer of data between AVEVA AIM and AVEVA P&ID, select the button under the Add Server Settings heading.
The Dashboard Server Selection window is then displayed:

Click +. A row of fields is then added under the Name, URL, Portal ID and Project Context headings. Enter the required details.
When the window is saved (by pressing Apply), the connection will be checked and a message will be displayed in the lower-left hand corner of the window indicating the success or failure of this test.
Multiple servers may be added. If this is the case, select the server to be used from the Default Server list. Select Apply again to save this setting.

The URL of the default server is displayed under the Default Server list.
To delete a server, select it from the list and click X.
To exit the window, click Dismiss.
Assign Save Search Sub-Category
This sub-category is used to set up how the application will search for AVEVA AIM documents based on their object class and item type.

This is done by associating item types with "SaveSearches". A SaveSearch is a predefined dictionary value stored in AVEVA AIM, designed to retrieve associated documents on request. The user can import these searches, and create new ones if required.
Available SaveSearches are listed in the Select SaveSearch field.
Import, Add and Delete Save Searches
To import SaveSearches from AVEVA AIM, select Import From Bootstrap File. From the Open dialog that is then displayed, browse for and select the XML file in which the SaveSearches are stored, and click Open. The SaveSearches in the file are then added to the Select SaveSearch list.

To create a new SaveSearch, select New. The Add SaveSearch dialog is then displayed:

Enter the name of the new SaveSearch and click OK. The new SaveSearch is then added to the list.
To delete a SaveSearch from the list, select it in the Select SaveSearch list, check its checkbox, and then click Delete next to New. The user will be asked to confirm the deletion. Click Yes to continue.
Associate Objects with a Save Search
First, select the SaveSearches to which objects are to be assigned. Access the Select SaveSearch list and checking the checkboxes of the SaveSearches to which the objects are to be assigned.

Next, select an object class. From the Select Object Class field list, select Symbol Classification, Equipment Type Letters or Instrument Type Letters as required.
If Symbol Classification was selected, the Available Classification list will then display the AVEVA P&ID symbol codes for each type of item symbol. If Equipment Type or Instrument Type Letters was selected, the Available Classification list will then display the letters used to identify different types of equipment and instruments in tag numbers.
Select the symbol classes, equipment types or instrument types (objects) for association with the SaveSearch by picking them from the list and clicking the > button. Multiple entries in the list can be picked at the same time if required. To choose all entries in the Available Classification list, select the >> button.
The selected objects are then moved from the Available Classification list to the Selected Classification list. Use the < and << buttons as required to return them to the Available Classification list.
Once the required objects are in the Selected Classification list, click Save. They will then be added to the grid in the lower half of the page.
Select further objects from the selected object class as required, or select a different object class from the Select Object Class field list and add symbol classes or item types to the SaveSearch(es) from that class.
Note: If an object is not associated with any SaveSearch, the default SaveSearch selected using the Setting Sub-category is used for it.
Associate an Object with a different Save Search
Select the SaveSearch with which the object (symbol class, equipment type or instrument type) is currently associated from the Select SaveSearch list. Select its object class from the Select Object Class list, and then select the object from the grid in the lower half of the page.
Next, select the SaveSearch with which the object is to be associated, and click Update.
The object is then removed from the list of objects associated with the first SaveSearch and associated with the second SaveSearch instead.
Delete an Object from a Save Search
Select the object (symbol class, equipment type or instrument type) as described above, and click Delete. The user will be asked to confirm the deletion. Click Yes to continue.
The Select checkboxes in the grid will be used to help with this procedure in a future release.
Settings Sub-Category
The Assign Save Search Sub-Category (see above) is used to link AVEVA P&ID objects with SaveSearches. However, if an object is not linked to a SaveSearch, a default SaveSearch is used instead. This is selected using the Settings Sub-Category.

This category is also used to set whether only documents associated with a selected item are searched for, or whether documents associated with its process owner are searched for as well.
If this is not required, select the default SaveSearch from the Process Owner Mapping list.
If this is required, select the DocumentSearchElementandOwner option from the Process Owner Mapping list. The select the default SaveSearch to be used from the list next to the Default field.
To save these settings, check the Set checkbox and click Save.
The Set checkbox must be unchecked to subsequently make changes.
The other fields on this page (Level1 to Level8 etc.) are not currently in use.
