View Drawing to Generate Routing Automation Rules

Routing paths can be highlighted on a drawing and automation rules can also be generated. Routing paths can be viewed from a selected source component to multiple target components. A maximum of five routing paths can be defined for each drawing.
Settings

The colours used to display the routing paths can be highlighted using the Automation tab in the Document Manager settings. Select the colours to display routing paths using this tab.
Press the appropriate button and select the required colour from the colour selection dialog that is then displayed. The selected colours are displayed in the preview fields next to the buttons.
Click Add to create a new target component.
Press Save to save the selections.
View Routing Paths
To view routing paths on a drawing, access the Automation tab. The tab contains a list of working copies of drawings which were saved in the AVEVA P&ID application.

Right-click on the drawing and select View from the menu that is then displayed.

The drawing is then displayed in the middle section of the Document Manager.

To view a routing path on a drawing, right-click on an appropriate item or the label of an item, e.g. that of equipment, pipe or nozzle, and select Select Source Component.

The source component is highlighted in the colour selected in the Settings tabs. The rest of the drawing is displayed in grey.

Right-click on an appropriate item or the label of an item, e.g. that of equipment, pipe or nozzle, and select Select Target Component.

The target component is highlighted in the colour selected in the Settings tabs.
Continue using the right-click option to select multiple target components.

Right-click on an empty area of the drawing and select Run Automation.

The application will then process the drawing to ascertain the routing paths.

Click Cancel to stop the process if required.
When the process is complete, the following message is displayed.

Click OK. The routing paths are then highlighted on the drawing view.

The routing paths are highlighted in the colours selected in the Settings tabs.
If two routing paths use the same route, the routing colour for the first target component is displayed.
Drawings with routing paths are highlighted in the drawing list.

Generate Automation Rules Reports
To generate reports that detail the routing path components, right-click on a highlighted drawing in the drawing list and select Generate Report from the menu that is then displayed.

The following dialog is then displayed.

Enter a unique name for the report and click OK.
If reports already exist with the same name, a message box is displayed, click Yes to replace the existing reports.

The reports are then generated. A progress bar is displayed during this process.

When the process is complete a notification is displayed, click the notification to access the output folder.

The report files are exported into a sub-folder of the project Output folder using the name for which the automation process was run. For example:

Report files are generated for the drawing. Individual report files are generated for each routing path in the drawing. The following file types are exported:

-
txt
-
pdf
-
xls
The following example displays ROUTE_NO-01, generated as a pdf file.

The following example displays ROUTE_NO-02, generated as a pdf file.

The following example displays the automation rules for the drawing, generated as an xls file.

Once the report is generated, it can be viewed in the Automation Result Details tab.

Each automation area on the drawing is displayed on a separate Route tab.
To view an automated item on the drawing, right-click on an appropriate item on the report and select Zoom.

To remove the routing paths from the drawing, click Reload.
