To display complex line types when viewing a drawing in the Document Manager, or exporting a drawing (using the AVEVAPIDtoISO15926, AVEVA.PID.PdfExport, AVEVA.PID.DxfExport, AVEVA.PID.SvgExport or AVEVA.PID.ColouringUtility export facilities) such as signal lines, lines with shapes in them etc, the following procedure must first be followed.
A system environment variable with the name ACAD must be added to the user’s PC. The value of the variable must contain the paths to:
-
AutoCAD Fonts folder path
-
AutoCAD Support folder path
-
AutoCAD and AVEVA P&ID Line Types folder path
-
Bin folder path present in the P&ID installation directory
For example:
C:\Program Files\Autodesk\AutoCAD 2020\Fonts;
C:\Program Files\Autodesk\AutoCAD 2020\Support;
C:\PID_12-2SP2_Projects\SAM3\AUTOCAD\PROJMET;
C:\Program Files\AVEVA\P&ID 12.2.SP2\Install\AutoCad\Bin
Note: The graphical user interface for creating the system environment variable may vary slightly, depending on the version of Windows.
To create or modify the system environment variable:
-
On the Windows taskbar, right-click the Windows icon and select System.
-
On the Settings window, under Related Settings, click Advanced system settings.
-
The System Properties dialog is then displayed. On the Advanced tab, click Environment Variables.

-
The Environment Variables dialog is then displayed. Click New under the System variables list to create a new system environment variable named ACAD, or click Edit to modify an existing ACAD system environment variable.

-
To create a new system environment variable, add the variable name and required paths, click OK.

-
To modify an existing system environment variable, modify the required paths and click OK.
