Validate Drawing Records

To validate drawing records, access the Validation tab. The tab contains a list of working copies of drawings which were saved in the AVEVA P&ID application.

Rules for validation are setup using the Settings tabs, refer to Validation.
Select the required drawing or drawings, right-click, and select the Validate option from the menu that is then displayed.

Validation of the selected drawings then takes place. The following message is displayed:

Cancel can be clicked to stop the process if required.
The following message is displayed when the validation process is completed:

A Completed Export to PDF message is also displayed in the message bar at the bottom of the application window. A PDF version of each of the validated drawings is exported to the Validate folder, which is a sub-folder of the project Output folder.
The folder also includes an Excel file which lists the results of the validation process (ValidationReport.xls).

View Validation Results Graphically
The results of a validation process can be viewed graphically. To view the results for a single drawing, right-click on its record and select View. To view results for all records, right-click and select View All.

The drawing or drawings are then displayed in the middle section of the Document Manager:

The items that match the queries associated with the validation rules are displayed in the colours specified for the rules in question.
To view details of items that have been highlighted by the validation process and why, hover the mouse cursor over them. Details are then displayed in a tool tip. For example:

Details of validation results are displayed on the Validation Result Details tab:

Results for each item, and are displayed grouped by rule, then by item type.
To graphically view an item in the Validation Result Details tab, right-click on it and select Zoom from the menu that is then displayed. The view will then be centred on that item in the graphical display of the drawing in the middle section of the Document Manager.
View Project Comparison Details
To view details of the differences between compared drawings from different projects, select the Project Comparison Details tab.

Select the source drawing for comparison, right-click, and select the Compare > Set as Source Drawing option from the menu that is then displayed.
Select the target drawing for comparison, right-click, and select the Compare > Set as Target Drawing option from the menu that is then displayed.
The comparison results can be viewed graphically or using the Data Comparison Details tab.
