  • From the list of templates in the window, select the template that the new drawing is to be based on.

The list consists of all the templates in the project database. If the required template is not listed, click Import and browse for the template. It will then be added to the database and to the list of templates available for selection.

  • If the Use Drawing Registry option on the Drawing - Settings Sub-Category pane of the AVEVA P&ID Project Administration program is selected, the Drawing Number field displays a drop-down grid listing the unassigned drawings available from AVEVA P&ID Reports. Select the required number for the new drawing. The Drawing Number and the Sheet Number fields are then completed with the selected data.

  • If the Use Drawing Registry option is not selected, enter the drawing and sheet numbers of the new drawing in the Drawing Number field and (optionally) the Sheet Number field.

  • If the file name of the new drawing is to be automatically derived from the enter drawing and sheet numbers, check the Match CAD Filename to Drawing and Sheet Number checkbox. Otherwise enter the filename in the CAD File Name field.

  • The CAD File Path field displays the default folder location of drawings. If required, click Browse and browse for a different folder in the dialog that is then displayed.

  • From the Design Area Attribute list, select the project design area to which the drawing is to be allocated.

Note: If Access by Area security is enabled for the project, only those areas to which the user has Full Access rights are listed. If only one such area is available to a user, it will be selected automatically and the list will be disabled.
Users in the System Admin group have Full Access to all areas.
Refer to Enable Area Based Security for details of Access by Area security.

When all required details have been specified, click Create. The new drawing is then created in the project and added to the Engineering Explorer.
