All AVEVA P&ID applications can be opened using the AVEVA P&ID Common Launcher. Open the launcher by clicking on the AVEVA P&ID 12.2.SP3 desktop shortcut:

The Common Launcher is then displayed:

The launcher consists of three rows of tiles. The upper row is used to select an AVEVA P&ID project.

The middle row is used to search for projects, login to a project, and open the Project Wizard. It also includes a link to the AVEVA website.

The lower row is used to select and open an AVEVA P&ID application.

Select a Project

All available projects are listed in a row of tiles along the top of the screen. Use the arrow buttons < > at each end of the row of these tiles to browse through the list of projects.

To search for a particular project, enter the project name in the field in the middle row and click Search.

The project is then displayed in the top row. Click on it to select it.

To include masked projects in the projects that can be selected from, check the Show Masked Projects checkbox.

Once a project is selected, the launcher will then open a tile displaying the name and description of that project (click the >> button in that tile to return to the list of projects).

User name and password fields will also be displayed.

Remove Project Shortcuts

To stop a project from being listed in the upper row, right-click on its tile and select Delete Project Shortcut from the menu that is then displayed:

The project tile is then removed from the upper row and will not be displayed when the launcher is opened in future.

Login to a Project

Once a project has been selected, the search facilities in the middle row are replaced.

If the project is setup to be logged into using SQL Server Security, the SQL user name and password fields are displayed.

Enter the user and password. The project server is also displayed.

Test that the entered details are valid by selecting Test Connection. A message will then be displayed indicating whether or not the connection details are valid. For example:

If the test connection is successful, or if the project is setup to be logged into using Windows Integrated Security, the user name and password fields are displayed. The project server is also displayed.

Select the user from the list provided:

Enter the password.

The next step is to select and open an application.

Note: The access rights and permissions that a user will have in AVEVA P&ID applications depend on the user group they are assigned to. Each of these groups corresponds to a user role. To view details of the access rights that each user role grants, refer to User Access Rights and the Security Manager.

Open an Application

For how to open the Project Wizard.

Other AVEVA P&ID applications are opened by selecting a project and then logging into it, as described above.

The required application is then selected from the tiles in the bottom row of the launcher. There is one for each application. Use the arrow buttons < > at each end of the row of tiles to browse the list of applications:

Once an application is selected, it is then opened and the project logged into using the details entered in the User and Password fields.

Open the Project Wizard

To open the Project Wizard, select the Project Wizard tile in the middle row. A Password field is then displayed:

Enter the password for the Project Wizard and then press the arrow button to start the wizard.

Change the Project Wizard Password

To change the Project Wizard password, click the button with the key symbol on it. The following fields will then be displayed:

Note: These fields will be displayed automatically the first time the Project Wizard button is selected after installation. The password must be changed from the default password the application is installed with.

Complete the fields as required and click Change to save the new password.
