Unlink Assigned P&ID Data Grid Items from Symbols and Pipes

This procedure is used to remove the link between symbols and pipes on drawings, and items in the P&ID Data Grid.

Procedure

1. Start the procedure by opening the P&ID Data Grid and accessing the Assigned node under the AVEVA P&ID Database node.

2. The nodes list all assigned symbols by type. Select the required item so that its details are displayed in the right-hand window of the grid interface.

3. Right-click on the record in the right-hand window and select UnLink from the menu that is then displayed:

   

   Note: Inline items cannot be "unlinked". An error message is displayed if this is attempted.

4. The link between the symbol or pipe and the item in the grid is removed, and the item is moved from under the Assigned to under Unassigned node.

   Note: Unassigned items in the grid can subsequently be placed on the drawing using the Insert Unassigned P&ID Database Symbols and Insert Unassigned P&ID Database Pipes procedures, or linked to unlabelled items on the drawing using the Link Unassigned P&ID Data Grid Items with Unlabelled Drawing Items procedure.
