P&ID Project Administrator settings for DEXPI imports and exports are made in the ISO 15926 Import/Export Configuration Category of the AVEVA P&ID Project Administration program.

The ISO 15926 Import/Export Category is divided into five sub-categories:

Settings Sub-Category

Embedded Image (65% Scaling) (LIVE)

The application pane is divided into the following sections.

Export Complex Linetypes to ISO XML 15926

If complex line types, such as signal lines, lines with shapes in them etc. are to be exported to an ISO15926 file, a setup procedure must first be followed. The help button in this section displays this procedure. Refer to Export Complex Linetypes to ISO 15926.

Shape Catalogue Section

If the Export Shape Catalogue for ISO 15926 checkbox is checked, then the shape catalogue will be written to the ISO 15926 XML file output.

USER ISO 15926 Settings Section

Select the schema version for the ISO 15926 XML file from the User ISO 15926 Version options.

Browse for or enter the location of the DEXPI Proteus Schema file in the Schema File Path field.

Import Settings

  • In the Target Units field, enter the units that drawings will be import in.

  • In the Proteus schema, text objects may or may not be inside label objects, meaning that text positions can be relative to either label positions or relative to the drawings. If text positions are relative to label positions, then select the Relative Position of text inside label option.

Note: This can also be set using the USER_IsTextPositionRelative user-defined directive in the Miscellaneous – Settings Sub-Category of the AVEVA P&ID Project Administration program.

  • In some cases there will be geometry in the shape catalogue which is duplicated in object instances. Select the If duplicated symbol use shape catalogue geometry option if object instance ignore geometry is to be ignored.

In the Attribute Nominal Diameter Standard field, enter the standard to be used when exporting Nominal Diameter attributes to XML files. It can be either "ISO 6708" or "DIN 2448" for Metric Drawings, and "NPS" for Imperial Drawings (refer to the DEXPI Specification document, section 12.2.16. NominalDiameterStandardClassi_cation).

Note: This can also be set using the USER_DEXPI_NOMINALDIAMETER_STANDARD user-defined directive in the Miscellaneous – Settings Sub-Category of the AVEVA P&ID Project Administration program.

In the Attribute Nominal Pressure Standard field, enter the standard to be used when exporting Nominal Pressure attributes to XML files. It can be either "Class" or "EN 1333" (refer to the DEXPI Specification document, section 12.2.17. NominalPressureStandardClassi_cation).

Note: This can also be set using the USER_DEXPI_NOMINALPRESSURE_STANDARD user-defined directive in the Miscellaneous – Settings Sub-Category of the AVEVA P&ID Project Administration program.

Symbols Mapping Sub-Category

Embedded Image (65% Scaling) (LIVE)

This screen is used to map AVEVA P&ID symbols to Component Classes and Component Class URIs (Uniform Resource Identifiers).

The grid lists the AVEVA P&ID symbols in the left-hand column. To map a Component Class and Component Class URI to a symbol, enter them into the Component Class and Component Class URIs (Uniform Resource Identifier) columns of that symbol’s row.

The mappings can also be imported from and export to an Excel file. Click either the Import to Excel or Export to Excel option as appropriate, and select a file to import from/export to in the normal way.

The Open Excel option will open the most recently exported Excel file.

The Search for Component Class and URI (Uniform Resource Identifier) option will search the POSCCAESAR website for the Component Class and Component Class URI for the symbol currently selected in the grid.

If the selected symbol has a valid URI, then the option will open the POSCCAESAR web-page for the associated Component Class.

Attributes Mapping Sub-Category

Embedded Image (65% Scaling) (LIVE)

This screen is used to map AVEVA P&ID attributes to Attribute Declarations and Attribute URIs (Uniform Resource Identifiers).

Select a component type from the Select Component list (e.g. Pipe, Equipment, Instruments, etc.). The grid will then list the AVEVA P&ID attributes of the selected component type in the left-hand column.

To map an Attribute Declaration and URI to an attribute, select the attribute, and then click Set Attribute. The Set Attribute URI dialog is then displayed:

Embedded Image (65% Scaling) (LIVE)

The dialog displays the selected component type and attribute in the Component Name and Attribute Name fields.

Click Search. The grid the fields then lists the Attribute Declarations and URIs associated with the component type and selected attribute (if no attribute was selected, the grid will list all the Attribute Declarations and URIs associated with the component type).

Select the row that contains the Attribute Declaration and URI to be mapped to the attribute, and click Save. The dialog then closes and the selected Attribute Declaration and URI are then listed in the grid for the attribute in its Attribute Class and Attribute Class URIs (Uniform Resource Identifier) column fields.

The data from the grid is added to Drawing Dictionaries for ISO Export so that it will comply with DEXPI Proteus schema.

Note: The lists of Attribute Declarations and URIs associated with attributes is taken from these pages of the DEXPI Information Model 1.2 website. Refer to:

Classification Attributes Including Inherited Attributes.
Physical Quantity Attributes Including Inherited Attributes.
String Attributes Including Inherited Attributes.

Object Type Classification Mapping Sub-Category

Embedded Image (65% Scaling) (LIVE)

This screen is used to map AVEVA P&ID item types to Component Classes and Component Class URIs (Uniform Resource Identifiers).

Select an object type from the Select Mapping for list (for example, Equipment, Instrument, General Items Pipe, General Items Equipment, and General Items Instrument). The grid will then list the AVEVA P&ID item types of the selected object type in the left-hand column.

To map a Component Class and Component Class URI to an item type, enter them into the Component Class and Component Class URIs (Uniform Resource Identifier) columns of that item type’s row.

The data from the grid is added to Drawing Dictionaries for ISO Export so that it will comply with DEXPI Proteus schema.

Note: The Equipment and Instrument tables are copies of the AVEVA P&ID List of Values for Equipment Type Letters and Instrument Type Letters respectively.
General Items Pipe, General Items Equipment and General Items Instrument tables contain data from the DEXPI Information Model 1.2 website. Refer to Classes.

Units Mapping Sub-Category

Embedded Image (65% Scaling) (LIVE)

This screen displays the mappings between DEXPI units of measure in the Units column, and equivalent AVEVA P&ID units of measure in the Alias column.

The data from the grid is added to Drawing Dictionaries for ISO Export so that it will comply with DEXPI Proteus schema.

Note: The DEXPI units of measure are taken from the DEXPI Information Model 1.2 website. Refer to Physical Quantity Types and Scales.
The AVEVA P&ID units of measure in the Alias column are taken from the USERLOV_UNITS list of values, accessible via the List of Values Configuration Category of the AVEVA P&ID Project Administration program.
