In the AVEVA P&ID Project Administration program, if the Display Engineering Groups checkbox in DataSet Sub-Category of the User Defined Attributes Configuration Category is checked, an extra node will be displayed in the Engineering Explorer: Engineering Groups.
Under this node, "child" nodes for each of the Engineering Groups set up for the project will be displayed. This example shows the Pressure System and Hazard groups:

Each group corresponds to a list of values added to the EngineeringGroup dataset.
Sub-groups within an Engineering Group are displayed as "child" nodes under that group. For example:

Each sub-group corresponds a value in the list of values that defines the "parent" Engineering Group.
For details of how to set up Engineering Groups, refer to the User Defined Attributes Configuration Category.
Within each sub-group, three nodes are displayed, Pipes, Equipment, and Instruments:

Add Items to Engineering Groups
To add an item to an Engineering Group, drag and drop it from under the Pipes, Equipment, or Instrument Loop item list node (see Equipment, Instrument and Pipes in the Explorer) to the equivalent node in the Engineering Group. For example:

Items added to an Engineering Group will automatically inherit corresponding dataset attribute value. In the example above, the value "High" will be assigned to the attribute "Hazard" in the properties of the equipment.
An item can be added to more than one Engineering Group.
Items are also added to Engineering Groups when the user assigns a value to the item's dataset attributes under the Engineering Groups heading in their Properties Dialogs. Items are added into the following hierarchy:
Engineering Groups > Attribute Name > Selected Value > Selected Component (Pipes/Equipment/Instrument).
Highlighting Items in an Engineering Group
To highlight the items that are in an Engineering Group on a drawing, right-click on the group. The following menu is then displayed:

Select the Highlight option. The items in the group will then be highlighted. For example:

The colour and line weight used for highlighting Engineering Groups is set in the Project Configuration Category of the AVEVA P&ID Project Administration program.
To remove the highlighting from the Engineering Group items, right-click on the group and select the Reset Highlight option.
