Overwrite Piping Network Source and Destination Reported at the Line List

  • Last UpdatedMar 14, 2024
  • 3 minute read

This procedure is used to change the piping network source and destination which is reported at the default line list. Refer to P&ID Data Grid. Selecting a different piping network on the drawing reports interconnected equipment as the primary source or destination of the pipeline.

Note: When the source or destination is changed for a pipe belonging to another piping network connected at a TEE intersection, the source or destination is overwritten.

During the procedure the following common command prompts are available:

Clear

Removes the piping network source or destination data for the selected pipe.

Help

Provides additional command information.

Procedures

Change Piping Network Source

In the example, pump P-1215 is reported as the pipe network source for pipe L-121404. It is intended that P-1216 is also reported as the piping network source which is connected using L-121405.

The line list displays the pipe network source.

  1. Start the procedure by picking the pipe segment to which the new pipe network source is to be added, then right-click and select Pipes > Set New Source from the shortcut menu.

  2. The Command prompt will display:

    SelectPipe(SELECT)/ClearData(Clear)/Help(Help) [SELECT / CLEAR / HELP] <SELECT>:

    Select "Select".

  3. The Command prompt will display:

Select Source Pipe Segment(or press ESC):

Pick the pipe segment to add as a pipe network source.

  4. To implement the changes, either select the Commit option or Sycnhronise option in the P&ID Reports group of the Manage tab.

A new pipe network source is added as the primary source of the pipeline and reported in the line list.

Note: In this case, because the original pipe segment L-121404 was already connected to a major piece of equipment P-1215, the application preserved the original equipment source and added equipment P-1216 which is connected to the selected target pipe segment L-121405.

Change Piping Network Destination

It can be a project requirement that the piping network source or destination, reported at the line list, must be the nearest major piece of equipment based on the plant connectivity and piping flow direction.

In the example, L-121406 is reported as the piping network destination for L121404. It is intended that B-0440 is reported as the piping network destination which is connected using L-121406.

The line list displays the pipe network destination.

  1. Start the procedure by picking the pipe segment to which the new pipe network destination is to be added, then right-click and select Pipes > Set New Destination from the shortcut menu.

  2. The Command prompt will display:

    SelectPipe(SELECT)/ClearData(Clear)/Help(Help) [SELECT / CLEAR / HELP] <SELECT>:

    Select "Select".

  3. The Command prompt will display:

Select Destination Branch or Pipe Segment(or press ESC):

Pick the pipe segment to add as a pipe network destination.

  4. To implement the changes, either select the Commit option or Sycnhronise option in the P&ID Reports group of the Manage tab.

A new pipe network destination is added as the primary destination of the pipeline and reported in the line list.
