This procedure is used to specify the default properties to be automatically assigned to copies of pipes, instruments and equipment, and to enable this facility.
Procedure
-
Start the procedure by selecting the Copy Paste Rule option from the shortcut menu of The Drawing Page. The Copy Paste Rules dialog is then displayed:

-
If the Copy/Paste rule functionality is to be used, make sure that the Apply Rule checkbox is checked (it is checked by default).
-
The dialog includes three tabs: Pipe, Equipment and Instrument. Select the tab appropriate for the type of item that the Copy/Paste rule is to be created (or edited) for. The selected tab will display the settings of the existing rule, if there is one.
-
To enable the Copy/Paste rule for an item type (pipes, instruments or equipment), set the Enable field value on its tab to ‘Yes’.
-
In the rest of the fields, enter or select the default properties to be assigned to copies of items of the type in question. If a list of values is available for a property, it will be available in this dialog as well.
Note: Pipe Unique Properties - only one of these fields can be set to 'Yes'. The property set to 'Yes' will be set to '?' for copies of pipes, and can then be amended by the user as required.
Note: Equipment Number - this field is not displayed on the dialog. Copies of equipment always have their number set to ‘?’ to maintain equipment number uniqueness.
Note: Tag Properties - for pipes, equipment and instruments. The available fields will be those specified in the label format settings in the AVEVA P&ID Project Administration Program (except for equipment number, as explained above).
Note: Datasets - all the datasets and dataset fields will be available in the dialog.
