Enable Area Based Security

Optionally, access to AVEVA P&ID drawings may be controlled by design area. To enable this option, check the Enable Access by Area checkbox in the right hand pane (see above).

In order for this option to function, a list of areas must have been assigned to Design Area Attribute field on the Drawing > Settings page of the AVEVA P&ID Project Administrator.

The list of areas is setup on the List of Values page of the Administrator (refer to the main AVEVA P&ID guide for details of the AVEVA P&ID Project Administrator).

If this has not been done, the following message is displayed when the Enable Access by Area checkbox is checked:

Once area based security has been enabled, the areas in the list of values assigned to Design Area Attribute field in the AVEVA P&ID Project Administrator are listed under the Areas node in the left-hand pane. For example:
