Object Security Settings

Each AVEVA P&ID Security object corresponds to a function, activity etc. in AVEVA P&ID. Object security settings define the access rights to AVEVA P&ID 'objects' that each Group has. This in turn controls the access rights of each user on the basis of the Group that they are assigned to (refer to Set up Groups and Set up Users for details of groups and users).
In the case of groups assigned the User Defined role, these permissions can be edited. Permissions inherited from other roles may not be edited.
To view the security settings for an object, for example, which groups have access to it, double-click Objects in the left-hand pane. The list of objects is then displayed:

Select an object from this list. The settings for the object are then displayed in the right-hand pane. For example:

If a group is in the No Permission Group column, this indicates that the users in that group do not have the rights to carry out the activity in question.
If a group is in the Permission Group column, this indicates that the users in that group do have those rights. See the tables for further details of the rights to objects granted by group membership.
In the above example, for the PIDStart object, all groups are in the Permission Group column, meaning that all groups (and therefore all users) can open AVEVA P&ID.
In the example, for the ProjectAdministrator object, the Drawing User group is in the No Permission Group column, meaning that users in this group cannot open the AVEVA P&ID Administrator application. The other three groups are in the Permission Group column, meaning that the users in these groups can open that application.
