How Source and Destination Items are Selected for Reports

How Source and Destination Items are Selected for Reports

  • Last UpdatedMay 19, 2026

The setting of the USER_REPORTSELFOWNCOMP directive, as set on the Settings sub-category of the Miscellaneous Configuration Category of AVEVA P&ID Project Administration, controls which inline items are specified as source and destination items for reporting purposes.

  • If the directive is set to 'Yes', only inline items owned by a line are valid for reporting as a source/destination of that line.

  • If the directive is set to 'No':

    • If a line is connected to another line via an inline item owned by the second line, that inline item will be reported as the source/destination of the first line.

    • However, if the inline item if owned by the first line, the second line will be reported as the source/destination.

      Examples (directive set to 'No')

In these examples, the directive is set to 'No' and the valve symbol type (VLV) is set as a valid source or destination (see the Display Object Labels at Pipe Source/Destination settings in the Labels sub-category of Pipes Configuration Category of AVEVA P&ID Project Administration).

  • Line 900 will report valve tag V-1000 as the destination instead of line 8000 because the valve intersects the two lines and belongs to line 8000 (coloured red).

  • Line 901 will report line 8001 as the destination instead of valve V-1001 because although the valve intersects the two lines, it belongs to line 901 (coloured in cyan).

  • Line 8000 will report line 900 as the source instead of valve V-1000 because although the valve intersects the two lines, it belongs to line 8000 (coloured red)

  • Line 8001 will report valve tag V-1001 as the source instead of line 901 because the valve intersects the two lines and belongs to line 901 (coloured cyan).
