IEC - Short Circuit Tab

This tab displays details about source equipment, impedance and the calculated impedance values.

Cable Impedance details are displayed in the section shown below.

Note:
Values with an asterisk have been calculated using the Standards table data rather than Cables Catalogue data in Electrical Wiring Manager. Therefore as a general rule asterisk values are less accurate.

In order to size cable under short circuit conditions, the following are provided.

Used to enter the limit for duration, from 1 to 5 seconds:

The initial temperature is equal to the conductor temperature from the cable rating table.

If the user specified that the cable temperature is to be calculated then it will be calculated using the appropriate IEC equation.

The K Factor field displays the short circuit calculation:

The Results field displays the minimum core size of the cable under short circuit conditions.
