Add New or Existing Equipment

To add new equipment to drawings:

  1. From the Symbols panel on the left-hand side of the window, select the symbol standard (for example, AVEVA Default) to be used from the Standard list.

  2. The symbols in the standard are then displayed in the Symbols panel. They are divided into categories, for example, Supplies, Loads, Protection Devices etc., which can be hidden and revealed by clicking the arrow button next to a category title.

  3. The plus and minus buttons to either side of the title bar of the panel can be used to expand and collapse all categories of items with one click.

  4. To add a symbol to the drawing, click on it in the Symbols panel and then drag and drop it at the required position on the drawing page.

    When adding a busbars, they must be dropped onto an existing MCC or switchboard busbar. The new busbar will automatically be added as the next busbar for that equipment.

  5. Add Compartment Elements (i.e. Meters, Protection Devices, Instrument Transformers, Relays and Switches) by dragging and dropping them into the appropriate Compartment. They can subsequently be reassigned or re-ordered if required (refer to Reassign Loads to Other Compartments and Change Graphical Order of Compartment Elements).

  6. When a new load or supply is added to the drawing, depending on the setting of the Forced Tagging for KOL checkbox on the Options window, the equipment may be created with a default tag, or the Equipment Tag window is displayed (refer to Manually Add a Tag to the Loads List for further information), in which the user must specify a tag for the equipment.

  7. Details of new equipment an be viewed and edited as explained below.

To add existing equipment to drawings:

  1. Existing equipment can be added to a diagram by dragging and dropping it from the Loads List or the Supplies List onto the diagram (click in the space directly to the left of equipment in a list where the blue arrow is displayed, to select it for dragging and dropping, not on the equipment row itself).

  2. The equipment is added to the diagram where it is dropped. At the same time, the supply and loads of the equipment are also added automatically.

  3. Any further interconnected equipment may be added by refreshing the diagram (refer to Refresh the Diagram).
