Terminate Existing Wires/Cores

There are two main ways to terminate existing cores and wires:

• Drag and drop cores/wires: Click on a wire or core in the Cores to Terminate list, drag it next to a terminal and drop it (i.e. release the mouse button).

• Drag and drop cables: Click on a cable number in the Cables to Terminate list, drag it to a terminal strip and drop it (i.e. release the mouse button). When terminating a cable Electrical Wiring Manager will display the Connect Options window (Refer to Cable Termination Options).

  If the "Wires" entry in the Cables to Terminate list is dragged and dropped, all the wires listed in the Cores to Terminate list will be terminated.

Users may also drag and drop core/wires between terminals. Click on a wire or core, drag it next to a terminal and drop it (release the mouse button).

As cores and wires are being connected, the following is displayed:

If a signal clash is detected, what then happens depends on the setting of the Allow when a clash of signal is detected checkbox on the Signal Propagation Tab of the Options window.

• If the Allow when a clash of signal is detected checkbox is not checked, the following message is displayed and the termination is not created:

  

• If the Allow when a clash of signal is detected checkbox is checked and the Show warning message is also checked, the following message is displayed:

  

  If Yes is clicked, a non-signal propagating connection is created. If No is clicked, no termination is created.

• If the Allow when a clash of signal is detected checkbox is checked and the Show warning message checkbox is not checked, a non-signal propagating connection is automatically created.

The above will repeat for every signal clash detected.

Electrical Wiring Manager supports up to two terminations per side per terminal. If two terminations exist, both connections, wire/ferrule numbers and cable number (if any) are displayed next to the terminal. Electrical Wiring Manager will not allow a third termination to be added to the same terminal side.
