The Symbols list consists of those equipment etc. symbols mapped to AutoCAD drawings using the Symbol List window and associated facilities. Refer to Designer Drawing Symbols for further information.

These symbols are assigned AVEVA item attributes as part of the setup procedure, and can be placed on the drawing by the user if required, and then linked to items in the project database.

Symbols set up using the Symbol List window are listed under the All Symbols node. The list will also include any assemblies that have been set up (see Create Assemblies) under the Assemblies node.

To view the AutoCAD drawings mapped to a symbol, click on it. The drawings are displayed in the area beneath the list. For example:

To place a symbol on the drawing, select its picture and drag it onto the drawing.

The user will then be prompted to pick an insertion point:

Place the symbol in the required location. Place as many instances of the symbol as required by clicking on their insertion points and then press Escape to end the command.

To edit a symbol, right-click on its picture and then select Edit Symbol from the menu that is then displayed. The AVEVA Symbol Editor is then displayed. Refer to AVEVA Symbol Editor for details.
