Secondary supplies and equipment items can be added to the layout.
Note:
All items that are not flagged as secondary supplies are classified as items of the
"Equipment" type, regardless of whether the symbol added to the layout is that of
an equipment item (field device, PLC), or that of a load or supply. In other words
they are added to the Equipment List and not the Loads List or the Supplies List.
When entering the details of an item in the layout, an equipment number must be specified,
which must be unique within the rule. However, if the item is flagged as a secondary
supply, this number is ignored when the rule is applied as the secondary supply assigned
to the load will already have a tag number.
If the item is not flagged as a secondary supply (it is an equipment item), when the
rule is applied the user will have the choice of creating a new equipment item with
entered tag number, or selecting an existing item of the equipment type in question.
When items are connected with cables, any "intermediate" items, for example, items
on a cable route between the load and a supply, automatically become equipment items.
-
Load, supply and equipment symbols are displayed in the Symbols panel. The standard used is displayed in the Standard field. The standard is selected using the Distribution Diagram Options window.
-
The symbols are divided into categories: Supplies, Loads and Equipment (for example, Field Devices, Local Control Stations and PLC Cabinets), which can be hidden and revealed by clicking the arrow button next to a category title.
-
The plus and minus buttons to either side of the title bar of the panel can be used to expand and collapse all categories of items with one click.
To add a symbol to the layout:
-
Click on it in the Symbols panel and then drag and drop it at the required position on the layout page.
-
The Equipment Information window is then displayed:

-
From the Equipment No list, select either {TAGNO}, {SUPPLYTAGNO}, {TAGNO}-{SUPPLYTAGNO}, or {SUPPLYTAGNO}-{TAGNO} as required, and if required enter additional characters to ensure the uniqueness of the item’s number. For example:

-
As described above, if the item is not a secondary supply, when the wiring rule is applied, equipment of the specified type may be created and given an equipment number derived from the selected format and additional characters. In the case of the above example, the equipment number will be <primary supply equipment number>-<primary load equipment number>-001.
-
If the item is to serve as a secondary supply, check the Secondary Supply checkbox.
-
Since items selected from the Equipment category cannot be supplies the Secondary Supply checkbox is not present for these items:

Note:
A supply, whether primary or secondary, cannot be a fed item in the layout. Once the Secondary Supply checkbox is checked for an item, a connection cannot be made to it from another supply.
Once a connection is made from a supply to an item with the Secondary Supply checkbox not checked, the item will be regarded as being of the Equipment type, and the checkbox will no longer be displayed in the window (unless the connection is deleted). -
The Datalink Sequence for Schematic Diagram field is automatically populated with the datalink sequence number for the item, for use when generating schematic diagrams. Enter a different number if required. The number must be unique for equipment and incomer items within the rule (cable datalink sequence numbers are counted separately).
Note:
The datalink sequence numbers of primary loads and supplies will be automatically set to 1 and 2 respectively and cannot be edited.
Datalink sequence numbers can also be set using the Set Datalinks dialog. Refer to Set Incomer and Equipment Datalink Sequence Numbers for details. -
Click OK to save the item information and exit the window. Note that the OK button will be disabled if the Equipment No is not unique within the rule.
The item symbol is then placed on the layout in the position it was dropped at.
