Add a New Link or Looping Wire

  • Last UpdatedApr 05, 2023

Select all the terminals within the same Terminal Strip (or Device if adding looping wires) that requires links or looping wires.

From the Terminations window, select the Links or Wiring tab, then select required option to add the links or looping wires as described below.

  • To create links that propagate signals, click Add Link (Normal), Add Link (Left) or Add Link (Right) as appropriate.

  • To create looping wires that propagate signals, click Add Left Looping Wires (Normal), Add Left Looping Wires (Long), Add Right Looping Wires (Normal) or Add Right Looping Wires (Long) as required.

The two 'long' options create looping wires that are longer than the standard type.

Links and looping wires that propagate signals cannot be created between terminals with different signals. If this is attempted what then happens depends on the setting of the Allow when a clash of signal is detected checkbox on the Signal Propagation Tab of the Options window.

  • If the Allow when a clash of signal is detected checkbox is not checked, the following message is displayed and the connection is not created:

  • If the Allow when a clash of signal is detected checkbox is checked and the Show warning message is also checked, the following message is displayed:

If Yes is clicked, a non-signal propagating connection is created. If No is clicked, no connection is created.

  • If the Allow when a clash of signal is detected checkbox is checked and the Show warning message checkbox is not checked, a non-signal propagating connection is automatically created.

If the Allow when a clash of signal is detected checkbox is not checked but it is necessary to create a connection between terminals with different signals anyway, to create such a connection select an Add Loop No Signal or Add Link No Signal option instead:

There is a No Signal option for each of the Add Link and Add Looping Wire options.

Links and looping wires that do not propagate signals are displayed in green instead of blue.
