Assign Loads to Supplies

Note:
The voltage of a load cannot be changed once a supply is allocated. The load must first be unassigned from the supply.

Note:
The utilisation of a load cannot be changed to Spare once a supply is allocated. The load must first be unassigned from the supply.

Note:
Supply assignments for a load cannot be changed in any way if a wiring rule is allocated to it. A message will be displayed to inform the user of this if this is attempted. The rule must first be unassigned from the load. Refer to Create Wiring for Loads for further information.

Note:
Multiple supplies can be assigned to a load if required, for redundancy purposes. The user specifies which is the primary supply, and which supplies actually feed the load in normal circumstances for load calculation purposes. The first supply assigned to a load will be automatically set as its primary supply. This can then be changed if required.
If multiple supplies are set to feed a load, the load is divided equally between them.

  1. To assign a load to a supply:

  2. The Assign Supply window is then displayed:

All available supplies are listed. If a transformer has more than one winding defined, each will be listed.

  3. In the case of MCCs and switchboards, select a compartment from the From Compartment list.

  4. Depending the on the supply type, the From Element/Circuit column will display the default circuit (for distribution boards) or available compartment element (for MCCs and switchboards) for each supply (if they have been defined).

  5. If required, a different circuit/element may be selected from a list of values in this field, if more than one has been defined.

  6. To select a supply, double-click on it, or click on it and click Select.

  7. If the selected supply is a distribution board without any circuits defined for it, the following message will be displayed.

A circuit must be defined for the distribution board before it can be selected. Refer to Supplies List.

  8. The load is assigned to a new compartment automatically generated for the load protection devices etc.

  9. The selected supply is then displayed in the Supplies field in the Load list and in the Supplied From section on the General tab of the Load Detail window.

  10. Check the Primary Supply checkbox to indicate which supply is the primary supply. This is automatically checked for the first supply assigned. As only one supply can be the primary, checking the Primary Supply checkbox for a different supply will automatically result in the checkbox for the previous primary supply being unchecked.

  11. One of the assigned supplies must be designated as the primary supply. If the user saves the Load when none of its supplies are set as the primary, the following message is displayed:

  12. The primary supply is automatically set to the first supply listed in the Supplied From section.

  13. The Load Flow checkbox is checked by default when a supply is assigned. Uncheck if the supply is not intended to feed the load in normal circumstances.
