To create a drum manually:

  1. Open the Cable Drum Schedule grid and click New from the Records section of the Home tab.

  2. The Cable Drum Detail window is then displayed:

  3. Enter a drum number, description etc.

  4. Select a catalogue cable by clicking the button in the Catalogue No field. The Select a Cable from Catalogue window is then displayed. Refer to Select Catalogue Cable for further information. The drum length and other details are derived from the selected catalogue cable.

  5. The Core Usage Type Allowed section of the window is only displayed if the Core Usage Type Assignment checkbox on the Cable Drumming Tab of the Options window is checked.

  6. By default, all the Core Usage Type Allowed checkboxes are checked for a new drum. If required, uncheck checkboxes to prevent the drum from being able to include cables that have those core usages.

    Note:
These settings cannot be changed once cables have been assigned.

  7. Before cables can be assigned to the drum, it must first be saved. Click Apply (or click OK to save and exit the window, if cable assignment is to take place later).

  8. Once a drum has been saved, the View Cables button becomes available:

    Note:
The Last Edit field that appears on this and other windows displays the date and time when the equipment data was last edited. The user name of the individual that performed the edit is displayed in a tool-tip when the mouse cursor is hovered over the field. Click the button in the field to display the Audit Manager, which will display a list of all the changes to the equipment data.
