Designer Drawing Facilities in AutoCAD

When drawings of the KOL and SLD Designer Drawing types are opened in AutoCAD (using the Open option on the List Tools - Drawing tab), a number of additional facilities are provided to create their content.
Note:
Refer to Issues when Opening AutoCAD Drawings.
Note:
For the Distribution Diagram versions of KOL and SLD drawings, the additional facilities
are not available, as the content of these drawings is defined in the Electrical Engineer module instead.
Using these facilities, users can place different symbols onto drawings, which already include AVEVA equipment attributes (as set up as described in Designer Drawing Symbols). They can link and unlink symbols to and from equipment and cables, highlight the loads, supplies and cables associated with a selected item, edit symbols, create assemblies from groups of symbols, add clouds, etc.
If a Designer Drawing was imported from Electrical Engineer (see Import Drawings into the Drawings List) or exported into the Drawings List using Electrical Engineer facilities (refer to Engineer documentation), then symbols may already be displayed on the drawing.
The symbols used will be the Designer Drawing symbols that have been mapped to the Distribution Diagram symbols in Electrical Engineer, not the Distribution Diagram symbols (although the same .dwg file may be used for the same symbol in both modules). If no Designer Drawing symbol mapping has been set up for a Distribution Diagram symbol, a blank space will be displayed instead of it.
The additional facilities are provided by a tab and a pair of explorers which are automatically loaded into the user interface when a Designer Drawing is opened from Electrical Designer.

Note:
Changes made to drawings and items in this way are not imported back into AVEVA Electrical. For example, if a symbol is deleted from a drawing using these facilities, or linked
to a different database item, this is not reflected in any equipment list, or in the
AVEVA Electrical database in any way.
