An Excel export and import facility is provided to edit the compartment names of an MCC or Switchboard in bulk, rather than one at a time using the Compartment Detail window (refer to Add and Edit Compartments).
Frame names, compartment descriptions, compartment numbers, and vertical section numbers may also be edited using this facility.
The compartment names of a supply are first exported to an Excel spreadsheet. They are then edited in the spreadsheet, and imported back into the project, where they overwrite the existing names.
Export Compartment Names
To export compartment names:
-
Click Export at the bottom of the Compartments tab.
Compartment data may alternatively be exported to a spreadsheet with extra columns which are populated with the unique id number of each busbar and compartment. To produce a spreadsheet in this format, select the Export to Excel (With Id) option, accessible by clicking the arrow next on the Export button.

-
Whichever option is selected, the Save file as window is then displayed.

-
Select the location to which the Excel file is to be saved, enter the file name, and click Save. The export then takes place.
-
The compartment names (and frame names, compartment descriptions, compartment numbers, and vertical section numbers) in the spreadsheet can now be edited using Microsoft Excel. Data in the other columns should not be edited.

Note:
Compartment names and frame names must be unique for the supply and must not be blank.
Rows with blank compartment or frame names, or with a compartment or frame name that
is the same as one in a higher row, will not be imported.
Once compartment names have been changed in the spreadsheet they can be imported back into the project as described next.
Import Compartment Names
To import compartment names:
-
Click Import at the bottom of the Compartments tab.
-
The Compartment Import Wizard window is then displayed:

-
Click Browse and select the Excel file from which data is to be imported, for example. the spreadsheet that was exported and edited. Click Next >.
-
The next window shows all the columns in the Excel spreadsheet to be imported. Select an existing Field Mapping (if one for this Import type exists) from saved mappings drop down or use the automatic mappings created by AVEVA Electrical and make changes to these mappings (if required).

Note:
To minimize the possibility that data currently being worked on by another user may be affected by an import, a list of the users working on the current project is available from the UserCount link. The number of current users is displayed next to the link. This total includes the user performing the import. -
Excel Column Name fields display the names of the columns in the spreadsheet. The AVEVA Electrical Field fields displays the Electrical fields they are mapped to.
-
To map an Excel Column to an AVEVA Electrical database field, click in the AVEVA Electrical Field field adjacent to the relevant Excel Column Name field, and select the required AVEVA Electrical field from a drop-down list.
-
To exclude a field from the import, click Clear button in the grid against the field that needs to be excluded or select the blank entry from the mapping drop-down list.
Note:
AVEVA Electrical automatically checks each Excel Column Name from the first row in the Excel worksheet against fields names in AVEVA ElectricalA Database (if not found then field Captions - as set in the Grid Manager). If a match is found then The application automatically adds the Field Name to the mapping list. The user can select a different field from the mapping list if required.Note:
New mappings can be defined if required. Refer to Defining a New Mapping Definition for details. -
Once the mappings have been set up, click Next >.
-
A list of compartments from the spreadsheet is then displayed.

-
If a compartment cannot be imported, its Invalid checkbox will be checked. The reason will be displayed in the Invalid Reason field.
-
To import a compartment name, check its Select checkbox. Check the Select all checkbox to check all the Select checkboxes. Click Next >.
-
After the differences have been displayed, the selected list of valid compartment names is then displayed:

-
Click Import to proceed with the import. The import then takes place and a log of the import is displayed in the wizard, and in a log file in. csv format which automatically opens.

-
Click Close the exit the import wizard.
