Once connections have been established they need to be converted into cables.
To create a cable:
-
Right-click on the connector line and select Create Cable from the menu that is then displayed.
-
The Add New Cable window is then displayed:

-
From the Cable Number list, select the required attributes or element from the list provided (for example {TAGNO}, {SUPPLYTAGNO}, {AREANO}, {CONSECUTIVENUMBER}), and if necessary enter additional characters to ensure the uniqueness of the cable’s number.
Note:
If the {CONSECUTIVENUMBER} option is selected, the cable number will include a sequential number. The format of these numbers is set using the Options window in Electrical Wiring Manager. -
Cables that comprise the "route" between a supply and a load, or a complete section of it, can be designated as "to be sized" by checking the To Be Sized checkbox. Such cables must be grouped together so that they are treated as a single cable for sizing purposes. Refer to Group Cables for further information.
-
Click the button in the Cable Catalogue field. The Select a Cable from Catalogue window is then displayed:

Note:
Although multiple cables may be added to connect the same source and destination items, only one of these cables (or a cable group) may be a power cable. Any others must be control cables. -
Either double-click on the required catalogue cable, or click on the record and then click Select.
-
The fields in the Catalogue Data section are then completed with data from the selected catalogue cable.
-
If the To Be Sized checkbox is checked, only the default catalogue cables for unsized cables are available for selection, for example:

-
If the To Be Sized checkbox is checked, and the "NOT DEFINED 1C" catalogue cable is selected, additional fields are displayed at the bottom of the window in the Single Core area.

-
Specify the number of cores, and whether or not the cable is to have an earth core and a neutral core.
-
Enter and select other cable details as required, e.g. the external parallel option and datalink sequence number for Schematic Diagrams. Setting the external parallel option automatically sets the internal parallel option as appropriate.
-
Each cable datalink sequence number must be unique within a rule (equipment and incomer datalink sequence numbers are counted separately).
-
Click OK to create the cable.
-
The line is then replaced by the new cable on the layout. It is labelled with the entered cable number and the number of the selected catalogue cable, and displayed in the cable colour as specified in the Distribution Diagram Options (the default is red).

Note:
When items are connected with cables, any "intermediate" items, for example, items on a cable route between the load and a supply, automatically become equipment items (see Add Item Symbols to Layout for details).
