Distribution diagrams in Electrical Engineer may be used as the basis for drawings in the Electrical Designer module.
Distribution diagrams can be added to the Drawing List by importing them from Electrical Engineer using facilities in Electrical Designer (refer to the Designer documentation for details). Alternatively, they can be exported to the Drawing List as drawings of the "intelligent" KOL and SLD Designer Drawing types.
Before a Designer Drawing can be exported, the seed file that is to be used to generate the drawing .dwg file must be selected (refer to Designer documentation for details of KOL and SLD seed files and their creation).
-
From the Export menu, select the Seed option. Then from the Seed sub-menu, click the Select option.
-
The Please select a Seed file window is then displayed:

Note:
The window is also displayed if the Intelligent Drawing option is selected from the Export menu when no seed has been chosen from the drawing. In this situation, after a seed file is selected, the Designer Drawing Export Viewer (see below) is displayed. -
The window lists the KOL or SLD Designer Drawing type seeds. Select the required seed and click OK.
Note:
The seed file selection is not saved when the diagram is saved. -
The window then closes and the seed border, as defined by the extents settings of the selected seed, is then displayed in the diagram as an orange box. For example:

-
Rearrange the diagram as required to fit it within the border, or select another seed file.
-
To hide the seed border, select Hide border from the Export > Seeds menu. To display it again, select Show border from the menu.
-
Next, select the Intelligent Drawing option from the Export menu. As described above, if no seed file has been selected, the Please select a Seed file window is then displayed.
-
Otherwise the Designer Drawing Export Viewer window is displayed, showing a preview of how the diagram will appear when generated as a drawing file in Designer:

The symbols used in the preview will be the Designer Drawing symbols that have been mapped to the Distribution Diagram symbols, not the Distribution Diagram symbols. See Pre-Defined Distribution Diagram Symbols and User-Defined Distribution Diagram Symbols for details. If no Designer Drawing symbol mapping has been set up for a Distribution Diagram symbol, a blank space will be displayed instead of it in the preview.
Zoom in and out of the drawing using the mouse wheel. Pan around the drawing by holding down any mouse button and dragging the cursor.
-
Select the plant area of the diagram from the Area list.
-
Enter the number of the drawing to be added to the Drawing List in the Drawing No field.
-
To add the new Designer Drawing to the Drawing list in Electrical Designer, click Create.
-
If the entered drawing number is already present in the Drawing List, a message is displayed. Change the drawing number and click Create again.
