KOL/SLD Seeds List

Seed drawings are used by Designer to create distribution diagrams, i.e. Key One Line (KOL) diagrams and Single Line Diagrams (SLDs) for both the Distribution Diagram and Designer Drawing drawing types. AVEVA Electrical requires specific parameters to enable distribution diagrams to be generated. These parameters are set in the KOL/SLD Seeds File Parameters window.

To open the KOL/SLD Seeds list window which contains a list of all KOL/SLD Seed files for the project, click Select in the Grids and Schedules section of the Home tab.

Select KOL/SLD Seeds from the list of grids that is then displayed. The KOL/SLD Seeds grid is then displayed:

Note:
Refer to Working with the Data Grid for information on the grid control including how to select a record.

This window contains a list of all KOL/SLD Seed drawing files added to the project database through this window.

Note:
Ensure that a Seed file is copied (or saved in AutoCAD) to the project Seed folder with the same file name as the 'Seed File' name entered in the Seed List otherwise Electrical Designer cannot use the Seed drawing to generate termination drawings.
This should automatically be the case if the procedure for adding new Seed Files (see below) is followed.

To Open a KOL/SLD Seed in AutoCAD

Select the KOL/SLD Seed file name, click Open on the List Tools - KOL/SLD Seeds tab. AutoCAD then starts (if not already running) and the file is opened.

Note:
In order for dashed lines to be displayed correctly in drawings that use a Seed File:
- The LWDISPLAY command must be set to ON.
- The LTSCALE may need to be adjusted.

Note:
Refer to Issues when Opening AutoCAD Drawings.

To Add a New KOL/SLD Seed File

To add a new KOL/SLD Seed file:

  1. Click New on the Home tab (existing Seed records can be copied by using the Copy drop down toolbar command next to the New option).

  2. The New window is then displayed:

  3. Select the type of Seed required, Designer drawing, or Distribution diagram.

  4. If the Designer drawing type is selected, the KOL/SLD Seed File Parameters window is then displayed as follows:

  5. Complete all parameters as described in the drawing units required in the AutoCAD drawing files (for example, mm or inches):

    Parameter

    Description

    Seed File Name

The AutoCAD drawing file. Click the ... button to open a file browser to be used in selecting the required file.

Select the file from the Seeds directory or browse in another location for the required file. If a file from another directory is selected, it will be automatically copied into the Seeds directory when the parameters are saved.

If there is already a file of that name in the Seeds directory, a message will be displayed to inform the user of this.

    Seed Type

The type of distribution diagram that the Seed file is for, either KOL Designer Drawing or SLD Designer Drawing.

    Description

    User defined description (optional).

    Size

    Size description (optional).

    Extents Min X and Y

Minimum coordinates from which AutoCAD can draw the Seed drawing border, i.e. its starting point.

    Extents Max X and Y

Maximum coordinates to which AutoCAD can draw the Seed drawing border.

  6. If the Distribution Diagram type is selected, the KOL/SLD Seed File Parameters window is then displayed as follows:

  7. Complete all parameters as described for the Designer Drawing type. The available Seed types are KOL Distribution Diagram and SLD Distribution Diagram.

  8. For the Distribution diagram type, an additional setting is available:

    Scale to Fit

Check this checkbox if the distribution diagram contents are to be scaled to fit within the extents of the Seed drawing border.
