Define a tag watch zone for line charts

Using the Tag Dictionary, a solution administrator can configure a "tag zone" that provides a visual representation of a predefined value threshold for specific tags on line charts. A tag zone is configured on a per-tag basis using the Zone1_Type, Zone1_Value1, and Zone1_Value2 columns of the Tag Dictionary.

An example tag dictionary entry

To configure a tag zone, open the Tag Dictionary and locate the tag you wish to configure a zone for. Then, provide one of the following values for the Zone1_Type column for that tag:

  • Above - A zone that begins along the y-axis at the value specified with Zone1_Value1 and continues through greater than values without a specified end point.

  • Below - A zone that begins along the y-axis at the value specified with Zone1_Value1 and continues through less than values without a specified end point.

  • Between - A zone that begins and ends at the values specified with Zone1_Value1 and Zone1_Value2.

After configuring Zone1_Type, Zone1_Value1, and Zone1_Value2 for your desired tags, select Save on the Configuration Assistant pane.

Once configured, line charts with your tags will display the zone. The color of the zone matches the line color of the tag.

A tag configured with a tag zone above a value of 75

In this example, the tag is configured with a tag zone above a value of 75.

One tag is configured with a tag zone above a value of 75, the other with a tag zone below a value of 75

In this example, one tag is configured with a tag zone above a value of 75, the other is configured with a tag zone below a value of 75.

Tag zones can be quickly enabled and disabled on a given chart by selecting the Show/Hide Tag Zones on Trends icon from the chart toolbar.
