Before you can send tags from an OPC server to AVEVA Insight, you must configure the OI Gateway to work with an OPC server.
To configure a gateway for an OPC server
-
Start the System Management Console (sometimes labeled "System Platform Management Console"). You'll find it in the Start menu under Wonderware Utilities or Wonderware, depending on the version.

-
In the left panel, find the node for OI Gateway (shown here as Wonderware - Gateway).
-
Right-click the gateway and select Create Server Instance.
-
Right-click the gateway and select Activate (Auto start after reboot).
-
Expand the tree for the gateway (Wonderware - Gateway).
-
Right-click Configuration and then select Add OPC Connection. Give it a name.
-
Configure the gateway to connect to your OPC server. The Server Node is the computer name running the OPC server (for example, "localhost").

-
Next to Server Name (the name of the OPC server), select … to populate the dropdown list. Then select the OPC DA server from the list.
Note: By default, an OPC group connection named "DeviceGroup" is added. If you need others-- for example, to configure independent scan rates -- you can add them. Right-click the node you created in step 7. Then select Add OPCGroup Connection and give it a name.
-
Repeat steps 5-9 for addition OPC servers/groups as needed.
-
In the upper-right corner, select
