How Availability, MTTR, and MTBF are calculated

Availability

The Availability for a piece of equipment is calculated by summarizing the duration of its Runtime and Downtime utilization events in the selected time period. For a production line, the event data is an aggregate of the production line's bottleneck equipment. Idle utilization events are not included in the calculation.

The calculation is:

Availability (%) = Runtime / (Runtime + Downtime)

Mean Time to Repair (MTTR)

In the specified time period, the calculation for MTTR is:

MTTR (minutes) = Total Downtime / Total Number of Downtime Events

Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF)

In the specified time period, the calculation for MTBF is:

MTBF (minutes) = Total Runtime / Number of Downtime Events

Note: MTTR and MTBF are not calculated for production lines.
