There are three ways to start a production run on a line:
-
With the production line selected in the Equipment list, by selecting the production run Start button at the top of the page. This method allows you to start the run on more than one piece of equipment from the same dialog. This approach is covered in the following procedure.
-
With the production line selected in the Equipment list, by selecting the Start Run action menu option of any bottleneck or production source equipment card shown in the canvas. This approach is covered in the following procedure.
-
With one of the bottleneck or production source pieces of equipment selected in the Equipment list, by selecting the production run Start button at the top of the page.
To start a production run on a line
-
Do one of the following:
-
Select the production run Start button at the top of the page.

In the Select Bottlenecks and Production Sources to Start section, select the bottleneck and production source equipment whose production run you want to start.
-
Hover on or tap and hold the top right corner of the equipment card to display the More actions menu and select Start Run.

-
-
In the Start a Production Run dialog box, set the production run properties.
Planned Quantity: The planned number of produced items for this production run on this piece of equipment. The planned quantity on the line summary comes first from the production source equipment and then from the bottleneck equipment.
Ideal Rate - Quantity: The ideal production run rate for this production run on this piece of equipment. The default value is defined in the efficiency model for this piece of equipment.
Ideal Rate - Unit of Measure: The unit of measure to use when calculating the ideal production rate on this piece of equipment. The default value is defined in the efficiency model for this piece of equipment. All calculations assume that the units of measure for good and waste counts are in the same units across all bottlenecks and production sources.
Ideal Rate - Time: The time period to use when calculating the ideal production rate on this piece of equipment: per second, per minute, or per hour. The default value is defined in the efficiency model for this piece of equipment.
-
In the Production Run Properties section, enter the planned duration.
This is the estimated duration of the production run for the equipment, based on the planned quantity.
-
In the OEE Data Properties section, enter the OEE data properties for the equipment production run.
For more information about OEE data properties, see Manage OEE data properties and Default OEE data properties for production lines.
-
Select Start.
The line's run status changes to Started. You can now begin adding good and waste production counts for the equipment that is running.
