AVEVA™ Insight

Manage the tag dictionary

  • Last UpdatedOct 03, 2025
  • 3 minute read

The AVEVA Insight tag dictionary is the metadata repository that describes the structure of each tag within each of the data sources used by your team. AVEVA Insight provides an Excel add-in called the Configuration Assistant that lets you manage data tags for your team.

About the Configuration Assistant for AVEVA Insight add-in

With the Configuration Assistant, you can:

  • Work with one AVEVA Insight solution at a time. If you need to switch between solutions to work with a second tag dictionary, select 3dots_addin to select a different AVEVA Insight solution.

  • Download the entire tag dictionary, or refine the items you see.

  • Delete tags, make changes to individual tags, or do bulk updates.

Note: Changes made to tags with the Configuration Assistant are not processed in real-time. If you delete a tag using the Configuration Assistant and decide to restore the tag via CSV/JSON upload, you must wait at least five minutes for AVEVA Insight to process any cached actions before the tag can be successfully re-added to your solution.

Important: In your browser, you must unblock pop-ups so that the Configuration Assistant add-in can run.
