What is an asset?

An asset represents a physical component of your operation.
It can be a physical location (for example, a city, region, or site), or a physical object that is part of your facility (for example, a pump, switch, or conveyor).

Many assets can contain "child" assets. For example, if you have an asset that represents a bakery facility, it would include "child" assets such as mixer, oven, and cooling rack. Each of those components may have child assets of their own. In AVEVA Insight, you can create a hierarchy of assets to model this relationship and view a particular asset in the context of that hierarchy.

Note: In the asset hierarchy, all locations are also considered assets.
