Configure an asset interface for Limble CMMS

You must be a solution administrator to configure an asset interface.

To complete the configuration, you must have your Limble CMMS Work Request Portal URL and the Client ID and Secret. If you don't have this information, refer to Obtain the necessary information from your Limble CMMS environment for instructions on how to get them.

To configure an asset interface for use with Limble CMMS

1. From Lists, select Asset Interfaces.

   

2. On the Asset Interfaces page, select to add a new interface.

   The Add dialog displays.

3. Enter the Name and Description of the asset interface.

4. Optionally, select an AVEVA Insight Root Asset that will be the parent of all assets imported by the interface. You cannot select an asset that is already associated with an asset interface of the same type.

   Important: You cannot select a Limble asset as your root asset. If you select a Limble asset, an error will occur when you try to save the interface.

   Selecting a unique root asset can prevent naming collisions. For example, if you have an asset named "Region1" in Limble CMMS, and you already have a "Region1" in AVEVA Insight (either associated with another Asset interface, or a different Limble CMMS interface), you will not be able to import the asset because they have the same name. You can manually create a new unique asset in AVEVA Insight, such as "LimbleRegion1," then select it as the AVEVA Insight Root Asset. When "Region1" is imported from LimbleCMMS, it becomes a child of the root asset, "LimbleRegion1/"Region1", avoiding a naming conflict.

5. Under Limble CMMS Work Request Portal URL, select Add Item, then enter the work request portal URL from Limble CMMS.

   You can add multiple items. For example, you may want to add multiple work request portals so you have one for each asset.

   

6. Under Authentication, enter the Client ID and the Client Secret.

   

   Note: The Client ID and Client Secret are stored securely, and are not visible after the initial configuration.

7. Save your configuration information.

   Once you save the interface configuration, AVEVA Insight begins the synchronization process, creating assets in AVEVA Insight based on the selected Limble CMMS locations (Work Request Portal URL).
