To add a shift pattern

  1. On the Shift Patterns page, select Embedded Image (65% Scaling) (LIVE).

    The Shift Pattern page appears.

    The Shift Pattern page

You can select Save at any time to save your work.

  2. Enter the basic information about the shift pattern:

    Name

    The name of the pattern.

    Effective Date

The date on which the shift pattern is in effect for the selected locations. For more information, see About shift pattern effective dates.

    Pattern Applies To

Select one or more locations to which the shift pattern applies.

You must select at least one location. Also note that the shifts in this pattern will be enabled only for those locations that have a time zone assigned to them. Admin users can assign time zones to locations. See Edit an asset.

If you select a location that has child locations, the child locations are automatically selected. You can manually unselect child locations. Note also that if you unselect a location, all child locations are automatically unselected.

    Pattern Type

Select the pattern type to which the shifts apply.

Currently, only the Production pattern type is available. The Production pattern type applies to AVEVA Insight Performance equipment.

  3. Specify the properties for the initial shift.

    The shift properties

    1. Select to which days the shift applies.

      The day selection area

You must select at least one day.

    2. Select the Shift Starts At box to enter the shift start time. Either type the time or select it from the list that appears.

      The Shift Starts At dropdown

When typing the time, be sure to use the format shown in the hint.

These times are local times to the equipment. A shift pattern can be assigned to multiple locations where the locations are in different time zones. Shifts will start at the specified local time of the equipment.

Midnight (12:00 AM or 0:00) is considered the start of the day. For example, a shift that starts on Tuesday at midnight would begin on the transition from 11:59 PM (23:59) Monday to 12:00 AM (0:00) Tuesday.

    3. Type the name for the shift.

The shift end time will be the start time of the next shift that is defined in the pattern.

  4. To add another shift to the pattern, select The Add button to the right of the Pattern Type list.

Note that only one shift in the pattern can be in effect at any time. If more than one shift is assigned the same day and start time, an error message will appear when you attempt to save the shift pattern.

To accommodate time periods when there is no actual shift work occurring, you should define a shift such as No Shift or something similar to cover those periods. This will allow users who are monitoring asset data to identify data that occurred when no actual work shifts were in effect. See Shift pattern examples and No Shift shifts.
