Link an asset to an asset type

You can link an existing asset to an asset type with one of the following methods:

To link an asset to an asset type from the asset type overview page

Open the asset type list and select the asset type you wish to link to an existing asset.

From the asset type overview page, select the Asset Type Actions drop-down menu, and then select Link Assets.

This will open the AVEVA Insight search with the Asset entity type pre-selected. Select your desired asset(s), then select Add to Asset Type.

A message will appear confirming that the asset has been added. From here, you can select the Asset Instances tab from the asset type summary page and see your selected asset(s).

To link an asset to an asset type by editing the asset

To link an existing asset to an asset type, edit the asset you wish to link and select the desired asset type from the Asset Type field.

Once your changes are saved, the linked asset will appear under the Asset Instances tab of the asset type summary page.
