Description |
|---|---|
|
Namespace |
This is a required property. This is the namespace used to provide a logical grouping of equipment. For example, it could correspond to a physical site, such as Houston Plant, or to an area at a physical site, such as Houston Plant Bottling. Entries can be up to 80 characters long. They can include alphanumeric characters, but not any of the following special characters: ( ) / \ # ? + = < > & : * % ” ’ ` ^ _ … ~ . ' " |
|
Name |
This is a required property. This is the name of the piece of equipment. Entries can be up to 80 characters long. They can include alphanumeric and special characters. Note that concise entries will display better on efficiency pages. |
|
Description |
This is an optional property. This is a detailed description of the equipment. Entries can include alphanumeric and special characters. While there is no length limitation to this entry, concise entries will display better on efficiency pages. Note: You can't update the description for an existing piece of equipment by importing a CSV file. Update the equipment description on the Asset page by editing the Asset entry. For more information, see Edit an Asset. |
|
Location |
This is an optional property. This is the defined location of the equipment. It sets the user security constraints for the piece of equipment. Only users assigned to the location specified here, or one of the locations above that location in the hierarchy, can view the equipment’s efficiency information. For more information about locations, see Set security by location. If the location does not already exist in AVEVA Insight, it is added during the CSV file import. If no location is entered, then only users with root-level security access, such as admin users, will see the equipment. Locations in a location hierarchy are separated by forward slashes (/). For example, Plant A/Sector Y/Area 22. For more information, see Location naming guidelines. Note: Do not use the entries No Location, All Locations, or All. These designations are used internally by the application. If you want to add a piece of equipment but not assign a location to it, do not enter a location. Only users with root-level security access, such as admin users, will see equipment with no location assigned. |
How equipment is uniquely identified
A piece of equipment is uniquely identified by the combination of its Namespace and Name entries.
For example, the following combinations identify two different pieces of equipment:
-
Namespace=Houston Plant, Name=Roaster
-
Namespace=Dallas Plant, Name=Roaster
