This document describes the installation and uses of AVEVA Production Accounting application. It is intended for administrators and first-time users of the application.

What is AVEVA Production Accounting?

AVEVA Production Accounting is an advanced operational software that resolves data inaccuracies or discrepancies in industrial flow measurements and material movements. The primary objective of the application is to balance a plant’s input flows with its output material flows by detecting and removing faulty measurements. It then performs data reconciliation to produce accurate and reliable material balance reports.

Role of AVEVA Production Accounting in the wider AVEVA architecture

AVEVA Production Accounting has pre-built connectors to various source systems such as, process historians, SQL DB, Oracle, and so on. The application processes the data from the source systems and runs gross error detection algorithm to identify and eliminate the faulty flow measurements from material balance accounting. Only the good measurements are passed on for data reconciliation which provide accurate and reliable reports on demand to stakeholders.

The following are the typical operational data processed within AVEVA Production Accounting:

  • Plant operational historian measured data such as, flow, temperature, pressure

  • Laboratory data such as, density and gas composition

  • Inventory data from tank inventory systems

  • Movement data from movement application systems

  • Manual data input sources from Excel or CSV files

AVEVA Production Accounting acts as a central reconciliation and validation engine within the plant information ecosystem. The application gathers data from the start to end of plant operations for previously siloed departments (receipts, processing, inventory, dispatch) and unifies it into a single reconciled dataset.

AVEVA Production Accounting stores processed and reconciled data in standard databases such as, SQL, Oracle, and MS Access. This enables other AVEVA solutions such as CONNECT and third-party applications to integrate the AVEVA Production Accounting data easily for further consumption of the reconciled data into analytics, reporting, visualization, or decision‑support workflows.

Key benefits

AVEVA Production Accounting provides the following benefits:

  • Higher operational efficiency: By minimizing the impact of faulty measurements on downstream processes, teams spend less time troubleshooting discrepancies and more time focusing on value-added tasks.

  • Structured management of flow data: The application enforces a structured approach to managing flow data which supports compliance needs and internal quality standards.

  • Faster reporting cycles: Automated processing reduces manual intervention which enables quicker turnaround of material balance reports and analyses.

  • Strong cross-application alignment: Working from the same reconciled dataset enables stronger application alignment to CONNECT environment which fosters faster dashboarding and data analytics.

  • Better scalability for digital initiatives: Clean, reconciled production data provides a dependable foundation for analytics, AI models, sustainability reporting, and future digital transformation efforts.
