Symbols

Symbols commonly used in the gas flow compensation equations.

Symbol

Name

Description

CGVF

Corrected (Also known as “compensated") Gas Volume Flow Rate

Volumetric flow rate corrected to standard conditions by AVEVA Production Accounting

MGVF

Measured Gas Volume Flow Rate

Observed volumetric flow rate corrected to standard conditions by plant instrumentation (using presumed temperature, pressure and molecular weight at the design operating conditions)

CGMF

Corrected (Also known as “compensated") Gas Mass Flow Rate

Mass flow rate re-corrected to standard conditions by AVEVA Production Accounting

MGMF

Measured Gas Mass Flow Rate

Observed mass flow rate corrected to standard conditions by plant instrumentation (using presumed temperature, pressure and molecular weight at the design operating conditions)

MMW

Measured Molecular Weight

Observed molecular weight

MP

Measured Pressure

Observed pressure

MT

Measured Temperature

Observed temperature

DMW

Design Molecular Weight

Presumed molecular weight at design operation conditions

DP

Design Pressure

Presumed pressure at design operation conditions

DT

Design Temperature

Presumed temperature at design operating conditions

Corrected Gas Volume Flow (CGVF) rate

Corrected Gas Mass Flow (CGMF) rate

Or, if a K Value for Gas Mass Flow rate was specified:

Example

For example, the condition of FI001 gas stream is as the following.

  • Measured Mass Flowrate : 10,000 kg/hour = 10 ton(MT)/hour

  • Design MW : 6.6

  • Design Temperature : 43.3 C

  • Design Pressure : 43.9 kg/cm2G

  • Measured MW : 6.88

  • Measured Temperature : 48.5 C

  • Measured Pressure : 42 kg/cm2G

You can define the design values on the Design Data tab.

170.ForGasFlowMeters

You can use compensation by selecting the Compensation checkbox and get the measured values from the tags.

And the compensated mass flow rate is calculated as volume correction factor is 0.99106.
