Calculate Enthalpy

  • Last UpdatedFeb 28, 2025
  • 2 minute read

There are six options for calculating the enthalpy: Manual, Equation, Steam, Component, Air, and Flue Gas.

  • Manual: With the Manual option, you can input the Specific Enthalpy value on the Results tab. You can only input the enthalpy value on the Results tab if Manual enthalpy is selected, and not for any other type of enthalpy calculation.

  • Equation: With the Equation option, you can calculate the enthalpy value through an equation that you can input in the Equation Editor by clicking the Calculate Function button .

  • Steam: If the stream is steam, you can calculate its enthalpy by selecting Steam.

  • Component: If the stream has components, you can calculate its enthalpy by selecting Component. The enthalpy calculation engine uses a specific chemical name for components. You will need to define the Chemical Name for each component name that will be used—on the Component tab of the Options dialog box.

After configuring the components, AVEVA Production Accounting connects to AVEVA Thermodynamics Library and provide operating conditions such as Temperature, Pressure, Composition and Phase of the Stream as inputs and calculates the specific enthalpy for the provided mixture or pure components.

  • Air Enthalpy: If the stream is air, you can calculate its enthalpy by selecting Air.

  • Flue Gas Enthalpy: If the stream is a flue gas, you can calculate its enthalpy by selecting Flue Gas.
