  1. On the Interface Source tab, add a new interface source.

  2. Enter the interface source name.

  3. On the Source Type dropdown list, select OPCHDA.

  4. Select ... next to Source Type.

The RTDB(Real Time Database) Connection dialog appears.

    Config_OPCHDA_src_1

  5. In the RTDB (Real Time Database) Information section, define the OPCHDA data source with the following details:

    • Username

    • Password

    • Server URL

  6. Select Edit_info_icon next to the Server Node to browse all connected server nodes.

The Select Server Node pop-up window appears with the available HDA servers.

  7. Select the HDA server, and select OK.

  8. To configure the server name, from the Available Server List window select the remote computer to connect to. If the HDA server does not appear, manually enter the server’s PROGID in the Sever Name.

  9. Select Test Connection to test the connectivity.

If the connection is not successful, you will get one of the following errors:

    • Access denied

    • Failed to get server CLSID

    • The server is unavailable

The errors mean your machine and server machine are not part of the same domain.

    • To fix the connection error, add your machine into the same domain as the server machine (or in a trusted domain). This is the safest way to correctly set up the communication between the OPC client and the OPC server.

    • If your machine is not in the same domain as server machine, create the exact same user account name and password with the server machine on your machine.
