Register a tag as using an RTDB Interface (PHD, InfoPlus, PI) as in the examples which follow.

Case 1

The tag is averaged in both AVEVA Production Accounting and RTDB. The tag name defined for use in AVEVA Production Accounting is normally same as the real RTDB tag name.

130.ExamplesOfTags1

Name: The tag used in AVEVA Production Accounting.

Tag Name: The tag used in an RTDB.

Case 2

This tag is calculated in AVEVA Production Accounting but averaged in RTDB. The real RTDB tag name in the calculation equation is used within a TAG() reference.

Case 3

This tag is averaged in AVEVA Production Accounting but calculated in RTDB. The calculation equation is passed to the RTDB and the RTDB returns the calculated value to AVEVA Production Accounting. The equation syntax varies by RTDB vendor.

130.ExamplesOfTags3

You normally build calculation equations by clicking the button next to the Tag Name column.

130.ExamplesOfTags4

You can register a tag using the ways shown in the figure to access data via an Interface with an RDB (Oracle, MS SQL Server, MS Access) or a file (Microsoft Excel, CSV, TXT). The example below uses an interface called PMS Import.

Name: The tag name used in ErrorSolver. Typically matches the tag name in an external system.

Interface Name: Indicates the tag gets the value from PMS Import interface with an external RDB such as Oracle.

Tag Name: Uses the syntax name field [; value field]. If the field is left blank, the default value is set to VALUE.

PMS import interface and the underlying SQL query.

130.ExamplesOfTags6

When the PMS Import SQL query is executed by Get Tag Data, the results match the tag definition using the DR_TAG field, since it is defined in the interface definition as the unique tag ID.

130.ExamplesOfTags8

You can import the tag’s data and apply the data to the measured value of objects which use this tag by executing the Import context menu item, available by right-clicking the row header.

130.ExamplesOfTags9

The measured value of any stream which uses this tag is updated by importing the tag’s data. (Usually, one tag will be used by exactly one stream.)

130.ExamplesOfTags10

You can import the data of tag for each stream or tank object by using the Edit Tag command button next to the Tag Name field on the Design Info tab of the object’s detail dialog box.

To do this, first select the events for which you want to import the tag’s data and then click the Edit Tag command button. On the resulting Edit Tag Information dialog box, import the tag data and then the measured values of the selected events are updated to reflect the tag data for the relevant periods.

130.ExamplesOfTags12

You can import the other measured values such as density, MW, temperature, or pressure from tags using the same method.
