Each Hatching Style defines two style/color pairs, either of which can be set OFF. The Fill Style and Fill Color (FSTYLE and FCOLOUR) attributes define the hatch pattern to be applied to the selected faces. The Outline Style and Outline Color (OLSTYLE and OLCOLOUR) attributes define the lines that can be drawn around the edges of the faces. For example, it is possible to emphasize an area by drawing a thick line around it without actually hatching it. See Hatching Rules for further information.
The HSTYL attributes, with their defaults, are:

By default, when a length of implied tubing or a DUCT or STRT (ducting straight) element is cut and the resulting face is circular or rectangular, Draw generates a typical sectioned symbol rather than just applying the hatch pattern to the face:

The PIPESYM attribute of Hatching Styles allows this functionality to be suppressed and replaced by normal hatching.
