Colour Tab

CE

Displays the color used for the current element.

Note:
Some elements may not show up on the display when they are the current element, as they have no physical presence in the model, for example gaskets.

Active

Displays the active color; that is, the color of the owner of the current element.

Note:
Only certain element types can be set to be active or visible. These elements are known as significant elements. They are generally elements one level up from the components or primitives that represent, for example Equipment and Branches.

Visible

Displays the visible color, the color in which Drawlist elements other than the current element is displayed.

Aids

Displays the color used to display graphical aids, for example measuring lines.

Highlight

Displays the color used to highlight elements which have been picked for a subsequent operation, for example deletion or for adding to a list.

Colour

From the Colour pane drop-down list select a Specific color or apply an Expression to the choice of color.

If Specific is selected, click on the colored box and select the required color from the displayed selection window and click Dismiss.

If Expression is selected, enter the required expression into the text box.

Translucency

Select the Translucency drop-down list to set the translucency of displayed elements to allow you to see through the translucent items to the items behind them in display. The degree of opaqueness can be controlled by selecting the required percentage translucency from the drop-down list, you can select Solid (0%) color to 100% is completely transparent.

Edges

Select Edges check box to display edges to those elements discovered by the applying the rule.

Note:
Edges are different to Outlines, Edges are Wireline superimposed on Shaded, where as Outlines are hidden line removed.

Data Display

Move the new or amended rule to the Rules list under Data Display pane in the following ways:

• Insert it Before or After the highlighted rule in the list, by selecting the required option from the Insert drop-down list and click Insert.

• Inserting it in place of the highlighted rule, click Replace.

If you want to copy a rule from the list, highlight it and click Copy. The rule is displayed in the Data Input pane, allowing you to change the name and insert it back into the rules list.

If you want to rearrange the Rule list you can select a rule and click Cut and then Replace it in the order that is required.

Location

Rules can be located in several areas. Dependent on the selected Location using the drop-down rules are stored in:

Name

Enter a Name for the new rule in the text box.

Types

Enter the Types in the text box, which is a standard four-letter word which defines the type of element in the Design database hierarchy.

Note:
Rules for the elements with descriptions to Piping Zone, Steel Zone and Equipment Zone would all have their Type set to ZONE.

Rule

A logical selection Rule must be defined to identify any type of element for which the Type alone is not a sufficient specification. A selection rule is defined as the evaluated result of a PML expression.

Note:
The Type ZONE can apply equally to a Piping Zone, a Steel Zone, an Equipment Zone, each of which requires a different rule.

If no selection rule is defined for a given rule, the rule is applied to all elements of the specified Type.

Enter a brief text string showing the type of element to which the rule is to be applied.
