The SELEC questions must be place in the correct order. The following headings meet the requirement:
OTYPE
Specifies the GTYP attribute of the owning GENSEC.
ATYPE
Specifies the GTYP attribute of the attached GENSEC.
OCLASS
Specifies the StruClassification attribute of the owning GENSEC.
Note:
The StruClassification attribute must be set to BEAM or COLUMN for automatic joint
selection to work. This is a limitation of using automatic joint selection
ACLASS
Specifies the StruClassification attribute of the attached GENSEC.
Note:
The StruClassification attribute must be set to BEAM or COLUMN for automatic joint
selection to work. This is a limitation of using automatic joint selection
POSL
Specifies the Posline attribute of the PLDATU owning the FIXING.
JREL
Specifies the relative size of the owning and attached GENSECs.
Note:
The JREL question is only relevant when the OCLASS and ACLASS are both set to BEAM.
The options are EQUA where the owing and attached beams are the same depth, GREA where
the owning beam depth is greater than the attached beam depth and LESS where the owning
beam depth is less than the attached beam depth.
STYP
Specifies a sub-type of joint that can be selected. An STYP question must be included in an automatic joint specification before any depth or width questions. This allows several types of joint with the same size range criteria (for example, ADEPTH) in the same specification.
ODEPTH
Specifies the DPTH property of the owning GENSEC. For example, a value of 80,140 matches a GENSEC with a DPTH property greater than or equal to 80 and less than or equal to 140.
ADEPTH
Specifies the DPTH property of the attached GENSEC. For example, a value of 80,140 matches a GENSEC with a DPTH property greater than or equal to 80 and less than or equal to 140.
OWIDTH
Specifies the WIDA property of the owning GENSEC. For example, a value of 80,140 matches a GENSEC with a WIDA property greater than or equal to 80 and less than or equal to 140.
AWIDTH
Specifies the WIDA property of the attached GENSEC. For example, a value of 80,140 matches a GENSEC with a WIDA property greater than or equal to 80 and less than or equal to 140.
NOFJ
Specifies the number of PLDATU members for the parent JLDATU of the selected FIXING.
An example of using the NOFJ question would be where a JLDATU owns two PLADATUs, each owning a FIXING, for example, where a larger beam has two smaller beams framing into each side of the web. If a joint has a stiffener on the opposite side of the web, this would clash with the opposing beam. This joint would have the NOFJ set to 1, meaning that if there are two PLDATUs then the joint is not a valid selection. Refer to NOFJ rule applied for Automatic Selection of Jointsts for further information.
Not all questions are required, for example:
-
If the JREL is EQUA, only the ODEPTH or ADEPTH question must be used since the beams are the same size.
-
If the JREL is GREA or LESS, only the ADEPTH question must to be used.
