Construction of 3D Positions

A specified 2D point can be projected into 3D, enabling 3D positions to be constructed by picks on any line in the Design graphics, using the POSition OF <point> syntax. For example:

TPT POS OF ENDP OF @

Position TO point at end of 3D line.

A Q DESC command returns a 3D coordinate for the TPT of the line. The functionality is only valid in Plan or Elevation VIEWs.

Note that the Q ENUPOS and Q SHPOS commands also calculate conversions between 2D and 3D positions. See Query Position Data for further information.
