Current View

Configures the default settings for current 3D View and uses these settings for any new views created (except Cloned views). Changes made can be previewed in the 3D view.

Title

Enter the title in the text box, which is used to form the name of the current view only. The value is not saved for any subsequent views.

Projection

Switches between Parallel and Perspective views of the model.

Rotate

Determines if the eye point rotates round the model (About Model) or vice versa (About Eye (With Walkthrough)).

The walkthrough mode, in which the eye point moves towards or away from the model, only works in perspective views. In this mode, hold down the middle button and move the mouse up to walk towards the model or down to walk away from the model.

Effects

  • Select Shaded to give a color-shaded view or wireline (if not selected).

  • Select Outlines to give an outlines view

  • Select Shadows to give shadows to model elements.

  • Select Outline Translucent elements to add translucency to outlines of elements. See Effects below for further information.

Tools

Select PowerCompass to display the PowerCompass in the 3D view.

Select World Axes to display the world axes on the 3D view.

Background

Controls the color of the View background. Click Colour to display the 3D View Background Color window.

Select Graduated to graduate the background color lighter at the bottom and darker at the top of the 3D view.

Capping

Select Capping to set cap on and off.

To control the color of the capping area, click Colour to display the 3D View Capping Colour window.

Lighting

Select the level of Brightness and Reflection by moving the sliders to the left or right.

  • Click Save to save the current view settings as the default settings.

  • Click Reset to return the current view to the default 3D view settings.

  • Click Apply to apply the current view settings to the 3D view.

  • Click Cancel to discard any changes and close the View Settings window.

Effects

The effects of a 3D model displayed in the 3D view can be customized to your requirements. You can select the following check boxes to display certain effects on a 3D model in the 3D view.

The following displays the default effects settings of a model in the 3D view; the Outline Translucent elements check box is not selected.

The following displays a 3D model without any outlines (thin black lines removed from the elements which outline the edges); the Outlines check box is not selected. The elements without outlines are only those displayed translucent.

The following displays a 3D model without any shadows on the elements; the Shadows check box is not selected.

The following displays a 3D model without any shaded color on the elements (only the outlines of the elements are displayed and shadows are not applicable if there are no shaded elements); the Shaded check box is not selected.

The following displays the effects of shading, outlines and shadows applied to a model in the 3D view; all check boxes in the Effects pane are selected. The Outline Translucent elements check box is selected, which displays the outlines for all of the elements that are displayed translucent.
