Creates a drawing sheet or symbol template from an imported CAD (.dwg or .dxf) file.
You must browse for and select the required CAD file, then click Open.
If the current element is a drawing, an element owned by a drawing, or a symbol library, the Settings window displays, by default.
If the current element is not a drawing, an element owned by a drawing, or a symbol library, the Hierarchy Browser displays.

You must navigate to the drawing that is to own the sheet or the symbol library that is to own the symbol template and click OK to display the Settings window.

The Settings tab on the Settings window allows you to define the general settings and scale for the imported CAD Drawing.
To resize the Settings window and view all available information, click a corner or side of the window and drag the cursor to create a window of the required size.

SHEE Name/SYTM Name |
Input a value to modify the name of the imported CAD drawing. |

Import As |
Select from the drop-down list to define the element to be used as the basis for the import. The default element is Sheet for a drawing sheet, the default element is Symbol Template for a symbol template. |

Layout |
Select from the drop-down list to define the layout to be used as the basis for the import. The default layout is Model. |
|
Default Line Width |
Select from the drop-down list to define the default line width for the imported CAD drawing. |
|
Import to Single Note |
Select the check box to import all objects in the imported drawing under a single Note element. De-select the check box to import all objects in the imported drawing under multiple Note elements. |

Scale Factor |
Input a value in the field to define the scale factor for the imported CAD drawing. |
|
Picture Size X |
The view only field allows you to view the original picture size on the X axis. |
|
Picture Size Y |
The view only field allows you to view the original picture size on the Y axis. |
|
New Picture Size X |
The view only field displays the projected picture size, on the X axis, when the Scale Factor is added. |

New Picture Size Y |
The view only field displays the projected picture size, on the Y axis, when the Scale Factor is added. |

Overwrite Picture Size |
Select the check box to overwrite the original picture size. The Paper Format drop-down list, Size X and Size Y fields become active. |

Paper Format |
Select from the drop-down list to define the paper size for the imported CAD Drawing. |
|
Size X |
Input a value in the field to explicitly define the picture size of the imported CAD drawing, on the X axis. |

Size Y |
Input a value in the field to explicitly define the picture size of the imported CAD drawing, on the Y axis. |
The Line Style tab on the Settings window allows you to map line styles from the imported CAD drawing to AVEVA line styles.

The default mappings display in the upper part of the Settings window.
To modify a line style mapping, select a row on the list. The name of the imported line style displays in the CAD Line part of the Settings window.
The AVEVA Line part of the of the Settings window allows you to select a line style and width for the currently selected line type.

Style |
Select from the drop-down list to define the mapped line style for the currently selected line type. |

Width |
Select from the drop-down list to define the mapped line width for the currently selected line type. |

Match Style |
Click to match the currently selected line type to the closest AVEVA equivalent (which should be the default match). |

Create Style |
Allows you to define a new line style for the currently selected line type. Refer to Create Line Style for Mapping for further information. |
Create Line Style for Mapping
Creates a line style for mapping.

The New Line Style window allows you to define the name, line style and weight for the user-defined line style.

Style Name |
Input a value in the field to define the line style name. |

Definition |
Select from the drop-down list to define the visual style of the line. |
|
Repeat |
Input a dimensional value in the field to indicate the line repeat distance for dashed and dotted lines styles. |

Style No. |
The view only field indicates the assigned Style No. allocated to the created line style, by default. Each new style is allocated the next available number. |

Function |
Input a value to describe the function of the line style. |
Click OK to create the line style or Cancel to discard any changes and close the New Line Style window.
The Text Style tab on the Settings window allows you to map fonts from the imported CAD drawing to AVEVA fonts.

The default font mappings display in the upper part of the Settings window.
To modify a font mapping, select a row on the list. The name of the original font displays in the Font column, the designated font displays in the AVEVA Font column.

Use True Type Fonts |
Select the check box to allow true type fonts in the imported CAD drawing. |

Default Font |
Select a font from the drop-down list to be used as the default font for mapping. The font is used for unmapped fonts, by default. |

Auto Matching Fonts |
Click for Draw to assign a mapped font to the currently selected row, by default. If no matching font is found the AVEVA Font column remains unchanged. |

Default Font |
Select from the drop-down list to define the AVEVA font for the currently selected row. |
Click OK to import the drawing or symbol template or Cancel to discard any changes and close the Settings window. A progress window displays while the import takes place.
