EIWM and RVM Files

The exported output is dependent on the element types selected in the configuration and the elements selected for export, for example:

If a PIPE element type is selected in the configuration and a SITE element is selected for export, all the PIPE elements in the SITE are exported.

If a PIPE element type is selected in the configuration and a PIPE element is selected for export, only the PIPE element is exported.

If a SITE element type is selected in the configuration and a PIPE element is selected for export, no output is produced and an error message is written to the log file.
The examples are illustrated in the following table.

Similarly, the number of RVM files generated for export also depends on the selection in the configuration and export, for example:

If an EQUIPMENT element is exported and an RVM file is selected for generation, an EIWM file and an RVM file are generated for the equipment.

If a SITE element is exported and an RVM file at the EQUIPMENT level is selected for generation, an EIWM file and an RVM file for each EQUIPMENT element in the SITE is generated.

The RVM file is always generated at the highest selected parent level in the configuration. However, if child elements types are selected in the configuration, the child elements are automatically included in the RVM for example:

If SITE and PIPE element types are selected in the configuration and an RVM file is selected for generation at the SITE level, the PIPE element type cannot be selected for RVM. However, if the SITE element is selected for export, the generated RVM includes the PIPE elements.

The EIWM file and the RVM file(s) are associated to each other using the is identified by association. The exception is that the EIWM file does not include any associations between the elements by default. To view associations between elements in AVEVA AIM, specify the associations explicitly using the Associations part of the AVEVA AIM Gateway Config window.
