AVEVA E3D Whitespace Optimizer automatically utilizes white space (unused drawing areas) for optimal positioning of annotations on a drawing.

AVEVA E3D Whitespace Optimizer is licensed as a service. CONNECT authentication is required to use AVEVA E3D Whitespace Optimizer. A one off sign in is required on first launch of AVEVA E3D Design with this service. Refer to Run Whitespace Calculation for further information.

AVEVA E3D Whitespace Optimizer operates using a cost charging mechanism. Refer to AVEVA E3D Whitespace Optimizer Cost Charging Mechanism Description for further information.

All DRAW elements are supported, except ADIM, RDIM, PDIM and DESSYM which are always treated as static ‘Don’t move’ annotations. Optimal positions can be calculated for all annotations on the drawing including annotations positioned outside of the drawing sheet limits.

Annotation positions are calculated using a combination of settings:

  • on style level (objective preferences, generic constraints, element constraints)

  • on sheet level (objective preferences, generic constraints)

  • on template level (template constraints)

  • on element level (element constraints)

The settings are described in the following areas:

Functionality is available to:

The whitespace calculation is subject to a defined set of element implementation rules:

The settings can be modified using:
